I can’t comment on check-in or check-out since my in-laws dealt with that. The rooms were okay, with a good harbour view, and there are plenty of cafés and places to eat nearby. The kids love it there.

The harbor is small and cute, and there’s a shop right there, though I’d suggest Netto or Lidl instead. The two stars are really for the location and the lovely, genuinely friendly women at the Dancenter office. The house itself was close to unacceptable. We struggled to lock the door, and the stairs were so steep that getting up and down with my three-year-old was awful. My mother has trouble with her leg and couldn’t manage them either, so I slept upstairs with my daughter and we had to go down backwards. Upstairs was extremely hot, and the floor and bed creaked. There were spiders everywhere. We vacuumed the windows every day so we could open them and air the house. The shower had no screen, which meant squeegeeing the bathroom after each use to avoid wet feet on the way to the toilet. The vacuum was weak, there was just one old rusty clothesline in the front yard, and the house had no egg cooker, toaster or measuring cup. The yard was overgrown with weeds when we arrived. We complained to the Dan Center, and the owner cleared them the next day. I also told her what was missing, and she brought measuring cups and lightbulbs that same day, which was kind of her. The worst problem was the laundry setup. The Dan Center only manages the houses, which can have different owners, and the whole complex has just two washing machines and two dryers. One washer was so old its door was nearly falling off. Tokens cost 30 DKK (4€), if they weren’t sold out, and the timer meant a machine stopped as soon as the token ran out, even mid-spin. You had to add another token to continue. The old dryer left laundry wet and scalding hot even after hours, and clothes came out dripping from the old washer too. I reported it, but the Dan Center said it wasn’t their responsibility. The day before we left, the ‘good’ washer broke, leaving one machine for everyone. The newer dryer wouldn’t work either. Since we were leaving the next day, the Dan Center dried my laundry and refunded one voucher. If you’re relying on being able to wash clothes while on holiday with two kids, this place won’t work for you.
The rooms were okay, but the dog fee was frustrating. We had a confirmed dog through booking.com, where it was free, yet got a message two days before arrival saying dogs weren’t allowed. Somehow, paying an extra DKK 350 meant the dog could come after all.
Check-in was a mess: no key had been left for us and the office was closed. We waited for several hours and eventually had to spend the night at Bork Kro. Nobody could promise a refund or compensation for losing an afternoon. The house itself was in okay condition and nicely furnished. The water park is small, clean and pleasant, with a shallow part of the pool that works well for families with young children. It wasn’t too crowded.
Update: We had A3 this year and were disappointed. The terrace had no door or fence, some furniture was old and mismatched, and the bathroom and toilet didn’t meet even modern youth hostel standards. The staff understood why we were frustrated, but every house was booked, so there was no way to change. They said the facilities were the owners’ responsibility and that some homes being unrenovated was unfortunately normal. Last time we stayed in house M2, right by the harbor. It was cozy, furnished well, and everything was perfect.
