Herning City Hotel

It's a clean, convenient hotel downtown, with friendly staff, though there's nothing especially modern or designed about it. I ran into two problems. The ventilation was terrible: the whole hotel, rooms included, smelled strongly of bacon and whatever was being cooked in the kitchen. It was hot, but heavy rain meant I couldn't leave the balcony door open. I shouldn't have to smell food in my room, and this alone would make me avoid staying here again. Parking was the other issue. I had asked about it before arriving, but nobody mentioned that the car had to be registered. There's a notice on the reception desk in Danish, which is easy to miss if you don't know the parking can result in a fine. Registration is also complicated without a Danish phone number.

I've stayed here for many years during the travel show. It's small and cozy, right in central Herning, and the staff are always welcoming and friendly. Their breakfast is the best part, especially with fresh Danish pastries among the choices.

It's a shame this hotel is in Herning. I wish every hotel were this good.

My room was quiet, the bed was good, and I slept well. The interior was nothing fancy, but fine, and the room had what you'd expect. The team was kind, and free parking was a plus. Still, for 160€ I expected better. Denmark is quite expensive, so I thought that was a good price here, but the breakfast was on the level of a 30 dollar motel in America, if you know what I mean. The coffee tasted like instant coffee oil, really disgusting, and the food variety and quality were a no go for me. Next time I'll try somewhere else. You guys really need to work on breakfast.
