Skallerup Seaside Resort

The houses have a nice layout and lovely nature around them, and there are lots of activities for kids, most included in the price. But inside, they weren’t great. The toilet smelled of fungus, and the pillows and blankets seemed unwashed. The houses need renovation and a better clean. The beds and pillows were also painfully hard, and we ended up with neck pain.

There’s plenty to keep families entertained whatever the weather, which can change a lot on this side of the Danish coast. The indoor water park, indoor and outdoor playgrounds, sea-view saunas and surprisingly decent supermarket all impressed me. You can also sign up for things like horseback riding and hot yoga. Amazing seaside resort for families. I’m thinking of coming back one day.

The location is excellent and there are great activities, but we won’t be back. At the animal farm, we got the impression the animals weren’t happy. The buck’s antlers were damaged badly enough to be bleeding, possibly self-inflicted from neurotic behaviour. When we arrived, nobody was at reception, so we just picked up our envelope with the keys and went to the cabin. It was really dirty: toothpaste on the floor and cabinets, fungus in the shower, leftover food in the dishwasher, sticky spots that might have been candy or bubblegum, footprints, and nasty stains on the walls, cabinets and ceiling. We cleaned the whole place ourselves because no one was there. There also wasn’t room for the baby cot that came with the cabin in the bedroom, even though we’d told them beforehand we’d be travelling with a young baby. We mentioned the problems at reception. They offered to send a cleaner and put the cot in the living room, which didn’t help us. The least they could have offered was a meal voucher for takeaway or the deli. They also charge extra for linen, towels and electricity, with electricity billed as a fixed amount per day. I don’t understand why that isn’t included in the cabin price. The bill at checkout felt like a rip-off.

Great for families, with lots of things to do indoors and outdoors. The children especially loved Badeland (pools) and lekeland (playground).
