The pool was great and the food was okay. It’s a very down-to-earth place. I can’t recommend the horse riding, though: a seven-year-old ended up with a fractured arm after the saddle wasn’t fitted well enough.

I spent a lovely afternoon at Hohenwarte farm, and the surrounding scenery in the Wadden Sea National Park makes for beautiful walks. Visitors can stop in for coffee, tea, soda, cake, ice cream, and snacks, even without staying overnight. It’s a flexible place to visit or stay, with rooms, flats, shelters, and space for tents or caravans. There’s a big outdoor playground full of toys, bikes, and carts, plus animals for children and adults to spend time with. Horse riding and carriage tours are available too. The owners are lovely, helpful, open-minded people. I’d definitely recommend a visit, or even a longer stay.

We spent one night in the shelter at the back. It was quiet there, and the staff were really nice.

The morning and evening views were beautiful, especially watching the starling flock over the fields and seeing Sort Sol. The food was fantastic, local and made with care. I’m a real llama lover, so getting to feed the Lama myself was a highlight. You can help feed all the farm animals at 10 am each day, and there are lots of them. My girlfriend and I had such a lovely stay at the farm in Hohenwarte. It’s warm and welcoming, and you quickly feel part of the place. There’s a relaxed, cozy feeling, like an old-fashioned colony with more comfort and much better food. It’s peaceful, full of animals and little moments that make you happy. A charming countryside spot where nature and a sense of presence come together. We’ll be back. Give the llama an extra carrot from me 🦙🧡
