Fårup Sø Camping and Cottages

The owners are very friendly, and the toilets and showers were cleaned twice a day. Still, after paying €1000 for 12 nights, we were asked for another €25 to use the showers, which I didn’t like. Our spot was too small for my 23ft caravan and tent. The places are expensive and small, especially by the lake, though the location and views make up for quite a bit.

The pool area was a big disappointment. They advertised the water at 26 degrees, but it felt more like 18, and it was freezing when we got in. The pool was only 1.31 meters deep. The slide barely had any water flowing, and what little there was went the wrong way. Even the jacuzzi was colder than the pool, the coldest I’ve ever been in, and I hope I never experience that again. The playground didn’t offer much either, just one trampoline apart from the big airbag, a dull zip line, and a few small things. Not many good activities around the camping area. 1/5

The kids spotted the playground and disappeared for about 45 minutes, which was just about how long it took dinner to be ready. I’ve only been here one night and already love the place. We waited five minutes to check in because the guy at the counter was taking kids around on the tractor, and I was happy to wait. It’s a magical spot for families who enjoy a bit of rustic fun. The accommodation is basic, so bring your own sheets, shampoo and dish soap. There’s a shop at the front for things you may have forgotten.

There’s plenty of space to swim in the lovely lake or take a boat out, and the pool is nice too. The large playgrounds are spread around the campsite. Facilities are clean and adequate, and having a kitchen is a welcome extra on rainy days. The pitches felt a little too small and close together to be charming.
