Gl. Klitgaard Camping & Hytteby

For our needs, this is the best campsite in Denmark. It has a lovely rural feel, with generous pitches, and it's only 10 minutes from the more commercial sites near Lökken. The beach is a short walk away, with those magical sunsets every day. Kids can spend time with goats and rabbits, or watch the pigs, kangaroos and horses. There's a nice pool, free pony rides and a good shop for fresh bread and groceries. It's family-run and welcoming, a real hidden gem.

We only stayed one night, as part of a birthday trip for my daughter, but we'd come again and recommend it. Our place, "Klithuset", was beside the horses, which was perfect for my horse-mad daughter. She could open the terrace door and go say hello, or watch them from the sofa. The campsite is peaceful, has lots of facilities, and is well located for exploring nearby. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The beach is walkable from the campsite, though getting there means tackling a long, very steep staircase. It probably isn't suitable for people with limited mobility or for dogs. The natural setting is beautiful, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Facilities feel a bit old-fashioned, and our family shower was cold. On the nice side, you can pet the friendly goats, pigs and bunnies.

I stopped here on my way back from Norway for one night. The pitches are spacious, tidy and private, and the owner at reception was friendly. The price was good. The toilets and showers were clean and perfectly adequate, though a bit old. The beach is about a five-minute walk away, with access by stairs.
