The meal was okay, but the beer mix-up and the way it was handled ruined the evening. We ordered a lager, something like Tuborg Classic, and were given a dark beer that was nothing like it. I switched to a light beer, and the polite, nice waitress said she’d sort it out when I asked whether we’d have to pay. Later she told us we still had to pay for the dark beer I’d sent back. When I mentioned I wasn’t happy while paying, the owner shouted at me. We paid about 600 dkr for dinner and left with a knot in our stomachs and a bad taste in our mouths.

The main drawback was noise from the main street, so ask for a room facing the backyard. There’s no place to work in the room either. Otherwise, the hotel has a large parking lot, an old-fashioned building, warm bathroom floors, a reasonable selection of TV programs, and a decent breakfast with fresh rolls. We also recommend the short uphill walk to Hohøj. It takes about 20 minutes and leads to Denmark’s largest grave mound, with a great view of the fjord. There’s an archaeological site next to the hill, plus a free exhibition in a small building about 50 meters from the parking spot. It has lots of interesting information about life here going back to 2000 BC.

In June 2024 we found it expensive, though the portions were big enough that we struggled to finish everything. It’s a lovely old building near the excellent museum, and one of the few places to eat in the village/town.

The steamed fish was especially good, and I’d highly recommend having a piece of it. The deluxe stjerneskud was really nice too.

The breakfast was poor, and the rooms were small with such thin walls that you could hear noise from the other rooms. It’s a bad, old hotel. Even one star would be too much for this hotel in Italy.
