Comwell Middelfart

A lovely place to stay, with clean rooms and a great breakfast.

The burger was good, though the dinner menu was limited. The room was a bit worn but okay, and the corridors felt depressingly long. It also seems to be used as a conference venue. Breakfast was disappointing, with little choice and many items served in individual little containers, even a single small slice of ham in its own cup. Washing all those takes a lot of water, so it doesn’t seem very eco-friendly.

The breakfast the next morning was amazing, which is why we gave four stars. Our stay at Comwell Middelfart was mixed, though. They gave us an upgraded room because the hotel was full, but there were ants on the walls and even in the beds when we arrived. Since there were no other rooms available, they could only clean it. The night receptionist who helped was super nice, but it was clear they were understaffed. He kept getting called away while assisting us, which was annoying for both him and us. We expected a discount, but only got a voucher and a promise that the manager would get back to us about one. That never happened. Bugs in the beds seemed like a good reason not to pay full price.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. At 1 am, the hotel manager came to my door with the police, saying she smelled hashish and that I would be fired. She didn’t care at all that I hadn’t smoked hashish. I found it very unprofessional. Never again.
