The beach area is about a ten-minute walk away, and it’s one of the island’s most beautiful stretches of white sand. The campsite has shared kitchens and fridges, but even out of season they got crowded. There’s a small restaurant serving breakfast and an evening pizza buffet, and it gets very busy. The campsite is in the south of the island and has different kinds of accommodation, including rooms. The shared bathrooms were clean apart from the sinks, which are behind doors and could have been cleaned better. A shower costs 5 DKK for 2.5 minutes on a card, but the water was cold, so it didn’t feel worth paying for. Tent spaces aren’t individually marked; you camp in areas set aside according to tent size. I was surprised that everyone could have a fire right in front of their tent despite all the trees and dry grass around. The smoke came straight into our tent. Also, caravan guests walked their dogs off leash through the area for small tents, and the dogs marked their territory all over, even near the tents. It was disgusting.

The location is hard to beat, right by what may be the world’s best beach. Our room was spotless, and the staff were very friendly. They also accommodated our late arrival and took our food orders after hours. Great value for the price.

We spent five days here and really didn’t want to leave. The beach is one of the best I’ve visited, and the pitches are lovely, among pines with room for a hammock. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The facilities, including the pool and family shower, are probably the best I’ve seen at a campsite. Everything, from the people to the surroundings, was up to a very high standard. The most amazing campsite I’ve ever stayed at.

There isn’t much nearby if you want to eat out, but the shared kitchen has everything you need to cook. The little kiosk by reception has a limited food selection, though it’s enough to put something together quickly before heading to the beach. We stayed just one night at the hostel, and that was enough to appreciate the services: our room was clean and had the essentials. We had to check out at 10 but wanted a few more hours at the beach, so we were offered a one-time pool entry, which also let us shower and swim indoors after the sky turned cloudy. Highly recommended!
