Bed and Breakfast Åløkke

The farm setting was lovely, quiet, and peaceful, and check-in was quick. That was the best part of the stay. The property needs a lot of upkeep. There was dust and spiders, the TV didn’t work, and the kettle leaked. The shower leaked badly enough to flood the bathroom. One bed was on the floor, and half the windows had no blinds, so the room was bright by 4 AM. The hostess seemed pleasant at first, but then kept pressing us to pay cash so she could avoid taxes and fees, something that hadn’t been mentioned when we booked. Hotels.com had charged me 27% in taxes and fees, and it felt like she wanted to keep that money. We didn’t have cash, so she offered to take a card with an extra 5% fee. That was ridiculous for an already expensive stay. She eventually accepted the card grudgingly, and also kept talking over me instead of listening. Two-star experience at four-star prices. I wouldn’t recommend it.
