Amalie B&B Apartments

It was so quiet in this residential neighborhood, the most peaceful stay I had while visiting Denmark. The B&B offers a good deal if you want privacy, along with pleasant shared areas and well-kept bathrooms. The Danish decor was a nice extra. Check-in is easy, but after 13:00 you have to do it yourself.

The host greeted us, showed us around, and everything was clean. It was quiet even with the windows open. We spent one night in a bedroom with a shared bathroom. The mattresses were too soft for us.

I stayed at Amalie Bed & Breakfast in May 2024. My Studio had its own kitchen and bathroom, and there’s free Wi-Fi and parking. The garden has BBQs, and Vestergade Street is about a 15-minute walk away. The apartment is 0.6 miles from Odense Train Station and near the Hans Christian Andersen Museum. There’s no reception, but they let me leave my luggage before check-in. I didn’t meet the owner in person, though their messages and follow-up were efficient. This property has two separate buildings, with a hostel at the front and a B&B at the back, but the website is misleading about the hostel rooms. It doesn’t show a full bedroom like it does for the B&B, only one or two twin beds without the rest of the room. Breakfast can be bought, but it isn’t included despite the B&B label. My room had four twin beds. If the other hostel rooms in the front building are set up the same way, 8-12 people could be sharing one shower when fully occupied. The shower is tiny and the water pressure is only marginal. The pillows were completely worn out, and the mattresses were marginal too. There was no fan, and the room was too hot to sleep well on a couple of nights. There wasn’t an iron or even cups for water. These rooms are very austere, like a hostel, so marketing them as B&B rooms is misleading.
