The website photos look amazing, but they don’t reflect the place we found. Everything felt worn, the walls had holes, and there wasn’t much that seemed nice. We also got a text just 24 hours before arrival saying we had to pay in cash. That felt a bit dodgy. Our room was the only one with a private bathroom. Its window had been left wide open, so we shut it because it was cold outside. When we came back that afternoon, we understood why it had been open: there was a serious plumbing problem, and the bathroom reeked of sewage. We never showered there and only rushed in to use the toilet or brush our teeth. Dinner was disappointing too. We expected local Danish food, but the starter was four cheap, not homemade spring rolls with hardly any filling, followed by Thai chicken curry. It wasn’t bad, but it seemed an odd choice for an old Danish farmhouse. The wine list was as cheap as could be. On arrival, we were served cheap, poor-quality white wine in a tiny IKEA glass with half a price tag still stuck on its base. All in all, the worst overnight stay I’ve had in DK.

The entrance was breathtaking, like stepping into a movie. The host was charming and had lots of information to share. The huge old property has so much history and felt a little spooky in the best way, which I loved. You can browse the library’s original old books, some hundreds of years old, and, if you’re brave enough, there are even more in the basement library. I loved it all and hope to return soon!

The library was the best part for me. Just the smell of books more than 300 years old gave me goosebumps. This 1800s manor house is full of vintage furniture that’s been left untouched and not modernized, which gives it a special feel. The manager told us about its history and was accommodating. We stayed two nights for my birthday. The showers and toilets are shared and outside the rooms, but we never had to wait. The food is okay and convenient since there’s nothing nearby, while breakfast is simple and worth the price. The garden isn’t very well maintained, though it’s nice to sit in the sun. The beds are really old, so don’t expect comfort, but enjoy the feeling of sleeping in ancient beds. If you have a car, you can explore nearby places and nature areas.

The staff were excellent and always smiling, and the location was wonderful. A charming, memorable experience, right up there with the best Denmark has to offer. I wish I could give it six stars!

I loved the atmosphere, the calm feel, and how beautiful the place is. The staff were great too. Only thing I would’ve liked was an ensuite bathroom, since it’s out in the hall. Otherwise, perfect.
