Hotel Dagmar

We came for lunch at the restaurant, not to stay at the hotel. The food we ordered was delicious, but the service was pretty poor. My husband waited a long time for his drink and had to ask twice what was taking so long. I ordered a chicken sandwich, though I can’t remember its exact name, and asked for it without bacon because I can’t eat it. The waitress wrote that down, but the sandwich arrived with bacon anyway. After I pointed it out, they took it back to the kitchen and brought it back just a few seconds later, so it seemed they’d only removed the bacon instead of making a fresh one. Please pay closer attention to what guests order.

The location is stunning, and breakfast came with make-your-own waffles that were awesome. The room was cozy and worked perfectly for sleeping. I only heard the upstairs neighbors once, early in the morning. The whole hotel has a warm, welcoming feel, with its historic, comfortable atmosphere. I loved my stay and felt right at home.

I felt ripped off. I stopped on the terrace for shelter from a sudden shower and ordered a double espresso with a glass of water. I was surprised when they brought a whole bottle, then more so when the bill came to 75 DKK, or 10 EUR. Almost half the charge was for the water, which I’d expect to come with an espresso anyway. Lesson learned: bring your own water or hold it 😉 😀

The location was perfect, and the rooms were spacious, though they could use some refreshing. The bathroom was large, but there was a paper cup instead of a proper glass. For the price, I was a bit disappointed there was no kettle or coffee.
