A month or so ago, we stayed at Poppelgaarden, a cozy little inn in a quiet, tree-filled part of the island. The hosts were really attentive, and we slept well. Breakfast was amazing.

It's about 1.5 km from Havneby, in a lovely hostel that feels far removed from everyday bustle. The host is friendly, and the small rooms are comfortable. There are several kitchens where you can store food and cook, and linens are available to rent. There's even WiFi if you can't switch off.

It brought back the feeling of being seven and going camping. A lovely setup for families with kids, young couples, or anyone wanting to explore nature. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, with one bathroom shared between every two rooms, and breakfast is delicious. There's also a shared playroom for kids, plus a separate cozy living room for reading, tea, or a chat, and a shared kitchen.

We booked three nights but left after just one because the rooms were so noisy. You could hear someone snoring next door, and sleeping here was impossible. A tent would be quieter. Even after we complained, we still had to pay the full price. The value for money is ridiculously poor, and we're extremely disappointed.

The rooms are quite small, and the bathroom is in a separate building, but we had a lovely stay. The owner at reception was friendly and very accommodating. I'd stay here again.
