The food and service were the real highlights: dinner was delicious and beautifully presented, the waiting staff were helpful and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere was lovely. We had a small room with a lovely view over woodland, a fine shower with plenty of hot water, and welcomed being able to make coffee in the room. The temperature was much too warm, though, and leaving the window open meant banging noises through the night. It’s a good base for exploring Midjylland, not too far from Silkeborg centre.

The grounds are lovely, with plenty of beautiful, untouched nature, and even in February I enjoyed being there. There are animals kept in captivity, which made me sad. The hotel itself was decent value for the money. Staff were neither especially friendly nor rude. I skipped breakfast because it didn't smell very appealing, but at 9:59, despite service being listed until 10, nothing was left.

The people and the food were both great, and the hotel has a distinctive feel, with several buildings rather than the usual setup. It's also in a beautiful spot near a lake. One thing that could be improved: shampoo and body lotion in the room, as other hotels provide.

For our two-day MTB trip, the hotel had what we needed. We could keep and wash our bikes there, and the official trails were close by.
