Brøndums Hotel

Breakfast was amazing, and it’s a good hotel. The one problem we ran into was the heat in the room. It was extremely hot, there were no fans, and even with the windows open there was barely any airflow. We woke up more than once sweating like crazy.

The breakfast was tasty, and I liked the hotel’s style. That’s why we chose to stay here. The room cleaning itself was good, though old water damage on the wallpaper made it look a bit unhygienic. The shared bathrooms were worse. The toilets seemed clean, but the showers looked like they hadn’t been properly cared for in a while. There were black mold spots built up and discolored shower walls, and at first I hesitated to shower. It didn’t meet expectations compared with the rest of the hotel. On the first morning, one cleaning person seemed irritated and barely said hello. The person on the second morning was much nicer. They all represent your hotel. We also found a damaged cable with exposed copper, a live wire, in two spots. It had clearly been run over and left that way. I got it replaced, but it could have been very dangerous, especially with kids around. We had one of our own with us. We didn’t try the restaurant because the prices were luxurious, though it looked fancy and good. After a few nights here, would I stay again? Probably not.

We stayed at the nearby Admiralgården because we wanted our own bathroom. The main house has shared bathrooms due to planning laws. We rented bikes at the hotel and rode to Blink and the east coast mini lagoons for an early morning dip in Kattegat. This was our second visit, and if we go to Skagen again, we’ll probably stay here again. Thanks to all the staff. The hotel has an old world feel that fits its age, without trying to be nostalgic. The king comes here. There’s a nice selection at breakfast. Just remember to take the coffee thermos to your table, otherwise you’ll stand out as an obvious tourist.

Broendums is my favorite place in the world. It’s quaint and charming, with excellent service and delicious food. Don’t miss tea by the fire, or after dinner drinks beside it. Off and shoulder season, town gets quieter. If you love nature, art, and comfort far from the madding crowd, I recommend Broendums in Skagen.
