The stud farm owner doesn't keep the agreements in place, and seems to find ways around paying her helpers properly. Fair criticism is hard to get when she doesn't want to pay accordingly. The stud farm also has a terrible habit of trying to control other people's lives and stopping them from starting something of their own. It's hard to understand that someone might not want to be single just because she does. The owner is snobbish about taking advice, which doesn't always work out well, and she badly misinterprets it. With her desire to stay in power, she doesn't understand why she rides the horses poorly on their front legs.

Whether a horse is headed for the slaughterhouse or going to the stable, they all get the same good treatment. Marianne is great with every horse, and I wouldn't choose anyone else to ride mine. It's a lovely place for both horse and rider.
