Gl. Ålbo Camping & Cottages

The campsite was peaceful and well kept, but our visit left us disappointed. My wife, our young son and I had spent the night in a tent in the woods and came by to ask if we could pay to use a shower. We were refused without an explanation, which felt unpleasant as travellers. In my reply to Christina & Martin, I thanked them for explaining their policy and said I understood the facilities were for overnight guests. My review describes what happened to us and is meant to be respectful and useful to other travellers, so I’d prefer to leave it as written.

We spent a week in a luxurious cottage with plenty of room, a cozy sitting area, and a view over the Little Belt. It had everything we could want, even underfloor heating. The campsite is wonderfully quiet, with a fantastic view over the water. Divers can walk straight in from the beach to explore the house reef, and there’s a filling station for both 200 bar and 300 bar.

We felt very welcome here. The owners were friendly and helpful, and clearly enjoy looking after the site and their guests. The reception shop has food and drinks, morning bread rolls, evening pizza, and a few tools for divers. The modern tank filling station is a plus, too. The grounds are mainly used by scuba divers and sport fishermen, so there’s a lively, friendly crowd. The new pitches are level and work well for camper vans and motor homes, with water views from many of them. Water and chemical toilet services are available and very clean, and the showers and toilets are modern and well cared for. For dog owners, there isn’t much room for walks. There’s a small wood at one end and a little beach at the other, and walking between them takes up to 40 minutes. That’s only an issue if your dog has wanderlust. We stayed a few days in summer and I’ll definitely come back, hopefully to see a whale.

We came back to this Camp for the first time since 2007, and a lot has changed. The Service has improved a lot, too. We’re looking forward to visiting more often in the coming years! Greetings, Thomas Ornik Oktopus-Spacediver Bremen e.V
