Alsik Hotel & Spa

The spa is clean, modern, and well equipped, but its service didn't feel up to the price. Guests pay extra for access, even though they get a lower rate than outside visitors. A three-hour visit costs over €40 per person, which is a lot. During our stay, we spent well over €300 at the spa in 24 hours, so the way staff handled a couple of small things was especially disappointing. After our visit, we asked for a dry robe to use in our room because the spa one was soaked. At first, staff said a replacement would cost extra. We were surprised since there was already a robe in our room, and only got one free after complaining. On New Year’s Eve, champagne was offered in the spa, but when we asked at the bar for a top-up, we were abruptly told it was one glass per person. The rule itself was fine, but the tone wasn't. The staff member said she couldn't remember who had already had a glass, even though several other guests had clearly received more than one. It felt arbitrary and unpleasant. The rest of our two-night New Year’s Eve stay at Alsik Spa Hotel was very impressive. We had a Junior Suite with breakfast on the 8th floor, and it was spacious, stylish, spotless, and better than expected, with a fantastic view that made the occasion feel special. The hotel is beautiful and modern, and the reception staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent, and the room quality and atmosphere were great. The spa facilities themselves were also very good. We'd love to return to the hotel, but the spa's hospitality and communication need to be more consistent with the hotel's high standard.

The gym and spa added a lot to our stay, and the hotel's location made it easy to reach Nørre Havnegade Dock. We also had a lovely view of King Christian X's Bridge. Our room was clean and comfortable, with the amenities we needed, and the staff were very friendly and ready to help with questions or requests. Breakfast had an amazing variety and was satisfactory. We had a very pleasant visit and would happily recommend it as a convenient base for exploring Sønderborg 👍.

I'm vegetarian, and the chef and staff coordinated around my request and had everything ready in time. The vegetarian dish was really good. Great people and generous servings, thank you.

We had a great stay at the hotel in 2024, so we came back in August 25 expecting another good visit to Sonderborg and Alsik. That didn't happen. At check-in we learned that children were only allowed in the pools early in the morning, during peak breakfast time. The information wasn't mentioned anywhere, and Hotels.com even lists the hotel as family friendly. We took our business elsewhere. I'm not paying premium prices for a place that, in practice, only wants adults.
