Hotel Bella Italia in Sonderborg shows stylish, glossy photos on booking.com and its own website, but I found them misleading, especially for junior suite 102 and standard room 101. The descriptions don’t mention that there are at least two rooms like these. We would never have booked if we’d known they’d make us feel on display. Both rooms are at street level, facing the terrace where guests eat, drink, and talk. Passersby can easily see inside. They’re described as bright, but without privacy you have to close the blinds, leaving the rooms gloomy and dark. The bathroom has no blinds either, just film on the window that isn’t opaque enough to provide the privacy you’d expect.

We had dinner here with my family during our stay at Center Parcs Nordborg. The staff were very friendly, the dinner was good quality, and the menu had vegetarian options.

We got a warm, friendly welcome, and the room was nice, though the stairs to the separate bedroom were steep. The Italian dinner was delicious.

There was no reception for check-in, and we reported three problems, but only one got resolved. The room itself was great and very spacious. The safe didn’t work, and there was no kettle. There was a coffee machine, but no cups or instructions.

A cozy restaurant in sønderborg. We ordered pasta, pizza, and a salmon dish, and liked them all. Great food, nice staff, cozy atmosphere. A must-visit in sønderborg.
