Toftum Bjerge Camping & Cottages

We booked at the last minute while visiting family in Denmark, when there wasn't much availability. The small Hytter at Toftum Bjerge Camping were in a handy spot for Lemvig, Struer, and Holstebro, and the fjord was nearby. The Hytte was just one large room, as we knew, but it wasn't especially impressive or very clean. The cupboards smelled damp and old, and the coffee from the machine tasted odd. We couldn't find a TV remote for the kids. When I asked, I was told to turn it on at the TV, but that didn't work. Eventually they brought one from another house, but it was for a different make and didn't work either. We planned to eat at the onsite restaurant one evening. I'd checked beforehand and understood we could just turn up, but it was closed when we got there. The receptionist said she was alone and couldn't open it. It would've helped to be told to check or book in a situation like that. It caused a lot of needless stress late in the evening, and we had to drive to Struer to find somewhere at the last minute. The facilities were okay and the play park was decent, though everything felt worn and could use some care. As a campsite it might be alright, but I'd avoid the Hytter.

I stayed two nights in my tent here and would come back if I could. The site sits on fairly high ground, so there's a clear view of the surroundings, and it's very close to the water at Nissum Bredning.

There was no washing-up liquid in the kitchen, so cleaning pots and pans was impossible. The welcome had all the warmth of a half-cooked herring.

The cabin felt a bit pricey for what you get, though maybe the other ones are better equipped. The spot was nice, and the facilities were clean and usable.
