Bagergade Apartment

The hostess helped us settle in and suggested places to eat and things to see around the city. We enjoyed coffee in the sheltered, sunny corners of the garden, away from the wind and the rush of weekdays. It’s a lovely, quiet B&B in Bagergade, and a cozy starting point for exploring Svendborg and South Funen.

A really cozy place with a lovely hostess. I was very happy with the room, so five stars from me.

The hostess was friendly, the beds were good, and the location was central. But the room was so crowded with the hostess’s flea-market finds that it got in the way of using the space. The website does mention that she loves flea markets, though it would have helped to show how cramped it is. The photo of a microwave on the fridge, an oven beneath it, and a trash can at the bottom gives you an idea. It was a disappointing stay, and I wouldn’t come back.

There could be a really cozy, nice place here, but the room was packed with big furniture and flea-market finds, leaving hardly any space. The closet and chest of drawers were full of paint buckets and other junk, so there was nowhere to hang clothes. From the photos, the cozy garden and greenhouse seem to have become a mess of flea-market finds too. Our first impression was an old, worn-out mat, dirt and branch clippings, plus a bag of road salt by the door in July. We also had to pay an extra 100 kr, which wasn’t mentioned on the website. The price was 750 kr without breakfast, and we still had to wash the dishes and strip the bed. My advice is to stay at the hotel. Will I come back? Never.
