Helenekilde Badehotel

We had two suites on the top floor, both comfortable and well kept, and the coastal views were hard to beat. In December, the hotel felt especially warm and festive, with intimate spots to relax and a laid-back seaside atmosphere. We stayed over the holidays and absolutely loved it. Such a memorable escape.

The best parts were the setting and the feeling of the place. Our number 7 deluxe double had a large porch and amazing views, and the glorious weather made it easy to lounge in the garden, swim in the ocean below, use the sauna, and have drinks on the porches. My boyfriend and I were so happy there. I’d visited Helekilde before, but this time we stayed together as part of his birthday gift. Helenekilde feels intimate and cozy, with nice decor, a relaxed atmosphere, and friendly young staff. Dinner was delicious, though 325kr for a small fish starter felt out of proportion, so I’m not sure I’d have dinner there again. Breakfast was simple and lovely. There were some things that really need attention. Parts of the place look run down, and our bathroom smelled like sewage, which we forgot to mention at checkout. At 7am, on our way to swim, the cleaning staff were working but the hotel was a huge mess, with pillows, blankets, and used glasses, cups, and plates everywhere, including our glasses from the previous afternoon and evening. I’ve never seen a hotel left like that overnight. It was bizarre, and not at all nice for early risers. Still, it was a blessed trip and we had a fabulous time. Can highly recommend.

The candlelight and fireplace made the hotel feel wonderfully warm and relaxing. We loved the beautiful garden and sea, and breakfast in the charming restaurant was delicious. There was no TV in the room, so we could properly switch off from screens. Thanks for making the stay so lovely and unforgettable.

The only real plus was being close to the sea and having a nice exterior. The staff were cold and unwelcoming, with no explanation of anything. The room and stairs were dirty, the toilet hadn’t been cleaned properly, and the rooms are tiny, with no wardrobe or even space for a suitcase. The bathroom also needs more light. You can find much cheaper, more pleasant places than this.
