Munkebjerg Hotel

The service was disappointing. Nobody said hi or good morning when I passed reception, and when I checked out, no one asked how the stay had gone. The bed and pillows were really poor. The room was quite cold even with the heater on, and there was no refrigerator.

The surroundings are spectacular, with magnificent fjord views, and the customer service was excellent. It’s a great hotel for a family stay. Breakfast stood out too, with plenty of high quality products.

Lunch was the best part for me, especially the exquisite open sandwiches. Dinner was good too, though the steak was a little overcooked and the sides were delicious. Breakfast was fairly standard, but nicely presented and cooked. The hotel sits right in the forest, with hiking trails and nature all around, and the staff were very professional and service-minded.

The early-morning swim was lovely, and breakfast on the terrace with the fjord view is a must. The food was healthy and wonderful, and the breakfast staff were really nice. Our bedroom was roomy, clean, comfortable, and had a vintage Danish feel. We enjoyed the stay, though we found both the staff and many other visitors rather cold unless we spoke to them first. That's a strange feeling for us as non-Danes, especially somewhere you come to have fun. It's a nice place, just don't expect much warmth from other guests.
