Golf Hotel Viborg

Breakfast was especially good, and the location was good too. My room was okay, but the beers in it were expired. I drank one without realizing and ended up with stomach cramps.

After a long time away, I figured Viborg Golf Hotel might have changed something: renovated, modernized, or at least got working internet. I used to stay at other hotels in Viborg, and that turned out to be the sensible choice. The only thing that's changed is how disappointed I am. I started at Grundfos 24 years ago, when this place was still fairly new, fresh and promising. Now it feels like the hotel has been in a coma for two decades. In the old rooms, nothing at all has been updated. Maybe they're meant to feel like a vintage museum. The bathroom smells of drain fumes, the Wi-Fi is painfully slow, and the ceiling still has halogen lamps from the last millennium.

The beds are the one real downside for me. They're so hard that I couldn't sleep well. The gym is well equipped, the spa area is decent and usually ready to use, and both the morning buffet and dinner are good.

The location and cleanliness were both 5/5, and the reception team is nice. The place is a little old-fashioned. What really let it down for me was the restaurant. My pasta had no flavor and the vegetables were hard, so I sent it back. I know Denmark can be behind on vegetarian options, but they could do better than telling me, “you need to pay, it’s what you ordered!” I finally had to say outright that it needed to be made again. It's a shame that one bad experience overshadowed the rest, but that response was poor customer service.
