Hotel Falken

The concierge knew about the condition of this section of rooms and said a budget for a full renovation was going through the approval process. That context aside, our two-night stay at Falken, the closest hotel to our new installation client, was a letdown. The breakfast buffet was modest: poor wheat bread, okay rye bread, cheese and cold cuts that weren't great, and a limited choice of vegetables. The cereals were commercial, and the coffee was drinkable. At least the water got boiling hot, so after five minutes of fiddling I managed a hot shower. The eggs were perfectly soft-boiled, and the Salt & Pepper grinders were nice. The room looked clean, but smelled of disinfectant, which made me wonder why. It was worn down, the bed was awful, and there were no convenient charging outlets, so I had to crawl under furniture. Some outlets hung off the wall with wires exposed, which I believe is illegal. The faucet hadn't been descaled in years, maybe since it was put in 15 years ago, despite the area's fairly soft water, and it barely worked. The shower had no screen, so the toilet paper got soaked.

The room was clean, though really small. It's just outside the city, but you can still walk there. Dinner from the menu was excellent and fairly priced, while breakfast was okay.

The food was really good and cheap, and the service was good too. Everyone was nice and made sure we had a good time. They were also happy to hear any criticism.

The price felt just right for what you get. The hotel was clean and tidy, with a high standard and plenty of furnishings. I was very happy with my stay and will definitely come back.
