The location near the airport and Kalinago terrority is why I chose The Hibiscus Inn. Compared with other parts of the island, though, there weren't many restaurants or grocery stores nearby. Kalinago Barana Aute is about a 15-minute drive away, and I'd suggest bringing a flashlight to get around the grounds at night. Finding the Inn can be tricky. Like many places in Dominica, it isn't well marked from the roadside, so use accurate GPS if you're driving until more signs go up. The parking lot in front, along the road, holds about five or six cars, is easy to miss, and is often full. There's more parking across the road, roughly 70 feet away. The rooms are spacious, with side balconies, plenty of light, ceiling fans, electricity, storage, mosquito netting, and comfortable beds. I stayed in January 2026; mosquitoes weren't a problem, and I was pleasantly surprised that the showers had hot water. The amenities are a bit sparse, as you'd expect at an eco lodge, but I thought they exceeded expectations for the reasonable rates. Many rooms are in shared huts with little soundproofing, so noise can depend on your neighbors. At night, the tropical forest may bring a lovely chorus of singing birds. The outdoor “swimming pool” is actually a river basin across the road. It wasn't appealing during my stay because of inland rain and murky water. Swimming peacefully in the sea can also be hard to find on this windward side of the island. The limited amenities are balanced by guests and staff with a similar outlook. I met fellow guests with interesting backgrounds and travel stories, and found the staff friendly, accommodating, and professional.

The food was lovely, it was easy and fun to meet the other guests, and everyone was so friendly. We had a great stay, and you helped us in every way. When our friend had a health issue, Amari Nigel and Samatha treated us like family. We're so grateful for all their support. Highly recommend!

We spent four nights in a room attached to the Lodge at Hibiscus Valley Inn, with breakfast included. Our late arrival meant the restaurant was already closed, but the cook kindly made a late dinner for us and another guest. We ate there every night after that, and both breakfast and dinner were delicious. The room was comfortable, and our little terrace sat right in the rainforest. A few large geckos crossed in front of it, though I was always too slow getting my camera ready. Samantha was so kind and shared lots of information about the area. Everyone at the Inn made us feel comfortable, and we really enjoyed our stay.

The meals were delicious the whole time, and the staff were incredibly kind and professional, even with our group of 16 teenagers. They kept adjusting to what we needed and were happy to tell us about local culture. The lodge itself is rustic, simple, and authentic, just what you'd expect in the middle of nature. After the first day, though, we had no hot water. Very refreshing!

We only stayed one night, but it was a great way to finish our trip. On the afternoon we checked in, we went innertubing and had so much fun. The staff at hibiscus were really friendly and amazing. The restaurant food was among the best we had on our 8 day trip through the neighboring islands. Highly reccomend.
