Cocoa Cottages

The staff were helpful and accommodating, and breakfast was fresh. I was upgraded to a larger room with a beautiful view. The cottage is surrounded by nature and feels peaceful, a lovely change from a standard hotel. A beautiful spot for anyone who loves nature.

We especially enjoyed sitting on the swing seat, watching hummingbirds and looking out over all the lush greenery. It’s a lovely place to stay, just a short drive up the valley from Roseau, and the rooms have lots of character.

The shared kitchen, with a fridge guests can use, was really handy. Breakfast and dinner were both available, and we enjoyed them, especially breakfast with fresh fruit, eggs, coffee, and tea. Cocoa Cottage is clean and cosy, tucked into the jungle with plenty of wildlife around, yet accessible by bus. The staff were lovely and helpful, sharing suggestions and even giving us a lift to the city centre when buses weren’t available. We absolutely loved our stay and couldn’t recommend it enough for a visit to Dominica, with nature spots nearby.

We spent five nights in the Treehouse on our honeymoon and loved the family-style meals and getting to know the other guests. The food was delicious, from the weekend pizza and local dishes on other nights to the hearty breakfasts. Huge thanks to the chefs and staff who looked after us. The Treehouse itself is amazing, with jungle views, the stream sounds below, and visits from birds, frogs, and other wildlife. It was also a short drive to the hikes and nature trips we wanted to do, including Boiling Lake, Freshwater Lake, and Emerald Pool. The one letdown was construction right beneath and very close to the Treehouse every day. The loud hammering and other noise meant little privacy during the daytime. We hadn’t been told about it, which was especially disappointing on a rainy day when we hoped to relax there and enjoy the scenery. If you’re booking the Treehouse, it may be worth checking whether the work will still be happening. Apart from that, we loved every minute at Cocoa Cottage and recommend it if you’re visiting Dominica.
