Janelle from the kitchen and Leena, the cleaning attendant, were the best part of our stay. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and their kindness, care, and willingness to help showed the warmth of Dominican people. They’re a real credit to the team. The views were phenomenal and relaxing, and the hotel is beautiful to look at. I’m Dominican by blood and have visited Dominica before, usually staying with family. This was my first hotel stay on the island, and unfortunately it was disappointing and didn’t do Dominica justice. My personal connections there helped; without them, the stay would have been even harder. I wanted to use the pool, but it looked poorly maintained, with mosquitoes and dead insects in the water, so it didn’t seem clean enough. The lack of Dominican culture and cuisine, limited access for elderly and disabled guests, and the experience overall didn’t reflect the warmth and authenticity of Dominica. The owners seemed welcoming, though the interaction felt more transactional than genuine. I didn’t feel I got value for money and probably wouldn’t stay again. It wasn’t the best first hotel experience in Dominica, though I sincerely wish the owners well. The views and especially Janelle and Leena were highlights, and say a lot about the beauty of Dominica and its people.

The owners are lovely, the food is yummy, and the sunsets are spectacular. We loved the porch as a place to unwind, and our room had everything we needed. Tamarind is a family-run place overlooking the ocean on this beautiful nature island. We were there the week before Christmas, and the decorations gave it a festive feel. It’s well placed for heading either north or south, and beautiful Mero Beach is close by.

The bar has a calm, quiet feel, and the staff are experienced and very accommodating. Our room had a beautiful ocean view, and the included beach towels were a nice touch. Breakfast was modest but good. It’s just a few minutes by car from Mero beach and about 30 minutes from Roseau. The best pizza in Dominica is only a few minutes away as well.

We had the Bungalow, which was very clean, and the sunset view was just awesome. After a day of diving, the very hot shower water was especially welcome. The staff and owner were really friendly and helpful, and they offered good tips and arranged tours. The location between Roseau and Portsmouth is practical, though you’ll want your own car to get there. Greatsphere and a good meal are right next door at the adjacent restaurant. We recommend staying here.

Annette is friendly, and you see her every day. The hotel is tucked into the countryside, with an amazing view right outside your door and tamarind and mango trees around that you can pick from. Tamarind Tree is a cozy, intimate place for a vacation. It’s charming, though it isn’t hip or grand in appearance.
