Art Villa Dominicana

The staff were so friendly and helpful. I left my laptop charger behind and was about to miss my bus, but they went out of their way to get it back to me in time. I really appreciated their kindness and quick help. Art Villa Hotel was comfortable and very reasonably priced for the quality. Highly recommended!

A single room with a single bed kept things simple, and at $43 USD ($64 CAD) it's a good deal. There are dozens of restaurants, grocery stores, lounges, and more just minutes away. The rooftop terrace is a great spot for coffee, dinner, or a nice Dominican cigar. Five stars from me, exactly what you want when you need an affordable room at the last minute.

The rooms faced a very noisy street, and it was hard to sleep. The pillows were extremely uncomfortable, and there was no floor mat in the bathroom. We also had no towels in the rooms. When we asked the front desk, they said none were available at all. There was no hot water during our stay, just cold. I booked three rooms, but on arrival one of the reserved rooms wasn't available. A terrible experience, far from what we expected.

The location is great, but the stay was a total mess and I'm not coming back. I arrived to check in at 8 p.m. after a long day, and the guy at reception kept playing on his phone for an awkward minute before starting to ask about my check-in. Then I got an economy room instead of the standard Studio I had reserved. The only towel on the bed was dirty. They said they'd run out when I asked for a clean one, and after I insisted I waited 15 minutes for it. The bathroom water smelled bad, and the hot water worked one day but not the next. The room door knob was nearly broken, so I had to use the lock instead. At checkout, nobody was at the front desk to take the keys. The staff didn't seem interested in doing any work.
