Guesthouse Caribe Punta Cana

For a low-budget stay, this guesthouse is fantastic. My fiancée and I like exploring, and this suited us perfectly. The beach is about 500m away, with local shops, a pharmacy, restaurants, and food trucks nearby. It’s good value and leaves you with more money to spend. There are bugs and small lizards on floors, paths, and walls, but this is an island surrounded by nature and jungle. I’ve stayed in quite a few places, and you find them in all the restaurants and hotels too. We had a great time dancing salsa with the staff and spending some lovely evenings. They offer a tasty Dominican dinner for around £2.60, compliments to the excellent chef. The pool was more than fine and spacious enough, since we were the only ones using it. It was drained and cleaned as we left. The new host, Yocasta, can help arrange a motorbike for around $20 US, much cheaper than taxis depending on how far you want to go. I’d ask the guesthouse about private weekend excursions, as you can see more of the island for half the price of beach excursions. Our first apartment wasn’t quite right, but the host and staff quickly moved us to one that suited us better. The apartment was clean, with fresh sheets, air conditioning, and a tidy bathroom. The water was cool, which I was grateful for in the heat. This is a self-catering guesthouse, so cleaning service is only once a week and you need to keep the place clean yourself. The staff are polite, welcoming, and attentive. If anything’s wrong, tell them and they’ll deal with it as soon as possible. It’s great for people who want to explore, including friends, families, couples, and backpackers. If you want a luxury all-inclusive where you never leave the complex, you’ll need to spend more. This is inexpensive, lovely accommodation in an incredible country, and my partner and I will definitely return.
