For a first solo trip abroad, staying here made the whole experience memorable. Lila was warm and welcoming, and for a couple of days I felt like part of her family. She arranged my activities each day and took care of all my meals, which were amazing. Most of all, I felt safe and looked after the entire time. Her family’s home is beautiful, almost like a castle in the jungle. If you want an authentic experience of the Dominican Republic that a resort can’t offer, I’d book here. Especially great for solo travelers.

From the moment I walked through the front gate, I felt at home and welcomed as part of the family. As a solo woman traveling, I felt safe and well cared for. The food is amazing, and I highly recommend asking Lila to make her delicious coconut fish for dinner one night. Honestly, it’s worth eating her cooking every night. Her husband, Florian, and the children are such kind people to spend time with. At the end of the day, I could retreat to my own little corner of paradise in the beautiful garden fortress. There are lots of excursions and things to do nearby to make the stay even better. I’ll definitely return to Guesthouse Las Piedras.

The garden alone is a treat, with Noni fruit, Star fruit, coconut trees, and plenty more to take in. The beach is about 20 minutes away, and stores and service places are within two blocks. But the real wonder is the castle itself: the owner built it by hand, from the handmade doors, iron gates, and hardware to the carefully set rocks finished in ornate cement work. I felt like royalty staying here. A magical place, lovely for the eyes, heart, spirit, and soul.

Florian and his wife were so welcoming, helpful, and full of good suggestions for places to visit. The room was quiet, cozy, and had everything needed, with a lovely old-fashioned style. The gardens were a nice little bonus. I highly recommend it.

I loved the beautiful green space, and the host treated me like family. A great stay.
