HM Bavaro Beach – Adults Only

We spent nine nights here and would happily come back. The beach, sunbeds, and bar were great, and the location was a big plus. Breakfast was lovely, with a delicious à la carte menu and a nice beach view. We also enjoyed the Japanese restaurant for its good-quality food. When we arrived, the main light wasn't working, and they moved us the next day without hesitation, giving us a room with a better view as well. Caimito, Ana victoria, yeral, and Alexis were especially welcoming and helpful. The staff really made the stay, and it felt like good value for the price. Que lo que papi 🇩🇴 😹

The room had a lovely balcony and view, breakfast was good with something to choose from, the Wi-Fi was good, and the pool staying open until 9 pm was a real plus. The AC worked well most of the time. Still, I wouldn't pick this hotel for a longer stay. The street in front had wastewater running along it, which felt unpleasant and a bit disgusting, and you have to walk through there to reach restaurants or get an Uber. Vendors near the hotel and on the beach kept approaching us, which felt a bit harassing. There was also a lot of noise: the walls are thin enough that we heard other rooms and the hallway, drilling went on for a long time one day and stopped us napping, and elevator work was noisy another day. One night, ice suddenly fell out of the AC and woke us. It had mold on it, and the same thing happened again over the next few days. The Japanese restaurant food was so-so. The beach water looked quite dirty and had sargassum even in December. I know that's not the hotel's fault, but I didn't go in. Fine for 2-3 days, in my opinion.

The rooftop pool was a highlight, with clear water and a lovely view. The soundtrack at breakfast and by the pool was spot on, and breakfast itself was generous, creative, and made with fresh ingredients. This is a small, intimate place right on the beach, with direct access to the sand and good security. There are two restaurants and two bars, and the staff are kind and attentive. The cozy rooms are well equipped, even with a drying rack. When an issue outside the hotel's control came up, the staff went above and beyond to sort things out. Service was impressive. The street is very narrow, and there is no parking lot.

I had to cancel my Air bnb because of safety concerns and booked here at the last minute. It was a rough start to my first visit to this country, but receptionist Katherine put my worries to rest. She was knowledgeable, pleasant, professional, and took care of everything I needed. Jeury was helpful too. The views were beautiful, the staff were great, and breakfast was very good. There are good restaurants within walking distance. I'll definitely come back when I visit again.
