Hotel Cortecito Inn Bavaro

The courtyard and pool are excellent and reasonably well maintained, and the location near the beach is good for the price. The rooms are nice and have all the amenities, and although there were beggars and harassers around the property, none bothered us. Our experience with the front desk was poor. One man, an older gentleman I suspect was the owner, lied and charged us an extra $40 USD in cash for two people, even though our online booking clearly said the standard rate covered two. The other desk lady was nice but disorganized. They also leave your ID in an open box at the desk while you have the key. Housekeeping did a bad job preparing the rooms. There were dirty spots, a fridge left disassembled, and some rooms were missing utensils that were supposed to be included or toilet paper. They did change our bedsheets once. Many rooms don’t have working air conditioning. There was no hot water, only warm, and the TV and cable box didn’t work.

I came back one night and found my room door open. All my valuables, including my passport, were gone. Reception couldn’t speak English, and calling the authorities didn’t help find anything. Even when locked, the doors can be pushed open. Be aware.

Lovely grounds, and we had a great lunch at the poolside bar. A great option if you want an authentic local experience.

The hotel looks nice from the outside, and the pool and location are decent. Inside, though, the room was very run-down. The bathroom was especially rough, the door had cracks, the safe and TV didn’t work, and the shower was mostly cold. They didn’t provide fresh bed sheets, and the front desk service wasn’t friendly.
