The area was the big plus for us. From the condo, turn right and it’s only 20 or 30 m to the main road running alongside the ocean. A few blocks in either direction there are mini markets, restaurants, bars, pharmacies, and money exchange places with very fair rates. The sandy beaches are reached by four different paths, around 12 to 20 minutes on foot, and you can walk for many kilometers either way once there. There are five buildings in total. Two pairs face each other, and another building sits at one end of the pool. Each has three floors with two apartments per floor, one two-bedroom and one one-bedroom. Privacy may be an issue: the two buildings opposite us were only about 30 m away, so balcony conversations carried, and you could see into apartments if curtains were open. We were lucky that offices directly behind our unit, within 10 ft, blocked a lot of traffic and loud music. In other units with a bedroom at the back, I imagine late night noise could be an issue. Service for everyday things was surprisingly fast. We messaged the water delivery service on WhatsApp and two five-gallon jugs of RO water arrived within minutes, for less than two US dollars each. Nearby pharmacies usually replied right away with advice and photos of what we might need, then delivered promptly. There’s a 24-hour pharmacy about a 15-minute walk away with good service and prices. My wife also got quick replies, photos, and prices from nail salons when she asked about a manicure on WhatsApp. We aren’t used to that kind of service in Canada, LOL. We paid a little more than for other apartments in these condos, but our host and the things in the unit made it worthwhile. Anything that wasn’t quite right was fixed almost instantly. We did a lot of our own cooking, and a grocery store was about a 12-minute walk away. It wasn’t large, but had nearly anything grocery-related you could think of, plus some other items. I bought a 10 US dollar espresso kettle and enjoyed espresso each morning. During our one-month stay we went to the Jumbo Superstore three times. A taxi, Uber, or those little three-wheel vehicles I can’t remember the name of cost around five or six US dollars each way. Some items at Jumbo were a good deal, especially Brugal rum, which we went through a lot of and found super affordable. The downside was how filthy some streets were, and the sidewalks and roads weren’t always in good shape, so watch where you step. After heavy rain, the main road by the beaches gets lots of puddles. Thankfully, most local drivers were mindful when passing, or we would have been splashed badly. If privacy isn’t your main concern, these condos are in an excellent spot, close to everything. We’d happily return.

Really nice place to stay. I’ll definitely be back soon.

The flat itself was okay, but I wasn’t a fan of this rental because the neighborhood is so loud. You can hear everything happening on the nearby road, and the pool in the middle of all the buildings carries noise indoors even with the windows shut. People sitting on balconies across from me were just as loud. It was extremely annoying when I wanted to sleep and the neighbors decided to have life-changing conversations at 1 am.

Such a great place, and I’ll definitely come back. I loved it.

My kids were robbed by the cost of staying in unit A1B. When I asked why it was $120 USD per night, the woman said it was peak season. This was March 8-13, 2021, during COVID restrictions, and there was also a $300 deposit. The pool couldn’t be used and the stove didn’t work. It felt like pure extortion. My children were exploited as American citizens, and I can’t forgive that.
