I was really pleased with my February stay. The apartment was spacious and clean, with large rooms and a balcony looking straight out over the beachfront. The beach is just in front and only a stone’s throw away. There’s a long stretch of shore for walks or water sports, and plenty of good restaurants nearby with different kinds of food. As a golfer, I was also happy with how many courses are a short drive away. A five-out-of-five location.

Stanza Mare is a condo with some hotel amenities, right on the sand. It has a large pool and a smaller one for kids, plus a poolside restaurant and bar with a very good selection of fresh food and drinks. The condo feels peaceful and relaxing, and it’s in the middle of Los Corales Beach town. Restaurants, shops, and a market with just about everything are nearby, and a 24-hour pharmacy is only steps away. The town feels very safe and is easy to get around on foot.

The pool was amazing, and the location is handy for restaurants, activities, and grocery stores. There is a beach, but it isn’t swimmable, so in practice there’s no beach for swimming. The room was well below what I expected. I had H102, which I think was the worst one. WiFi barely worked, and neither did my mobile data. The lock was broken, so we couldn’t get into the room normally and had to spend a few minutes gaining access each time. There were also some fees that weren’t clear when booking, and once everything was added up, we could have found something better. A very mixed experience.

My favorite spot was the big porch, facing the beach with nothing blocking the view. I spent time there with morning coffee and watching the sunset. The condo has three roomy bedrooms, and the breeze stayed calm and steady, keeping things comfortable for sunbathing and relaxing. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook, from pots and pans to utensils and appliances, and making meals with fresh local ingredients was a pleasure. After days in the sun and surf, the comfortable beds and sound of the waves made for restful nights. I woke up refreshed. I felt safe in the gated community, with lifeguards watching the beach and the entrance. The shoreline stretches a long way past other condos and resorts, which made the morning walks invigorating, especially with the sunrise over turquoise water. A few restaurants right on the beach served tasty meals with a view, toes in the sand. There were also lots of restaurants and entertainment options within walking distance, with local seafood and international dishes among the choices. My week at this beachfront condo in Punta Cana was unforgettable. It was a tranquil place with the comforts of home, and I can’t wait to return.

The pool was one of the calmest parts of our stay: large, relaxing, and quiet, with no DJ or local music, though we sometimes heard music from the neighboring resort. This is a condo complex right on the beach, not an all-inclusive. There’s a small poolside snack bar where you can buy food and drinks, and it closes at 6 pm. It worked best to order ahead. A couple of times we showed up around 2-3 pm and were told nothing else was available. The coffee machine wasn’t working during our visit; we got piña coladas once. Other guests said the food was good, so ordering early seems worthwhile. The beach was our main concern, and I hadn’t understood how the “private beach” worked before arriving. Beach Bavaro is very wide here, leaving space for the resort’s own section with chairs that Stanza Mare guests can use for free. Guards were sometimes right on the beach, or at the entrance, and outsiders couldn’t access that resort area. People did walk along the part closer to the ocean, but it didn’t bother me. We were there in June 2025, when sargassum (sea weed) was a significant problem. People told us November to May is the best season to avoid it, so it’s seasonal and good to know about. Security was well handled too, which matters when staying outside an all-inclusive in Dominican. Guards are there 24/7, and people who aren’t staying at the complex can’t get in. We rented short term through AirBnB and received bracelets for easy entry and getting around. I had no concerns about security in the condo or our parked vehicle. Each condo has its own space, and there are visitor spots. We ventured out once to look for kitchen supplies at local grocery stores. The narrow, lively streets had people asking us about things, but didn’t feel unsafe. There are lots of restaurants nearby, though we didn’t have time to try them. For groceries, Jumbo, the big store in downtown Punta Cana, is about 15-20 minutes away by car. There’s another local option around 10 minutes away. The small places called “Super market” are more like convenience stores, and their service and selection can be hit or miss. Driving was the hardest part of our vacation: getting groceries and visiting Macao Beach and La Romana meant dealing with potholes, sometimes hidden under water, big traffic jams, aggressive local drivers, and especially very narrow streets on the way into the resort. Cars coming the other way didn’t always leave enough room, partly because of parking. Bring your patient, defensive driving skills and expect a little adventure, as if you were in southern Italy or somewhere in Turkey. It all worked out in the end. I didn’t take off a star for this since it has nothing to do with the resort itself.
