Soficu Hotel On The Beach

The pool on the second floor was pristine, and the rooms were nicely appointed. The hotel was almost empty, so they took our breakfast order from options including omelette, eggs, French toast, passion fruit juice, cereal, and coffee. Breakfast came with our booking through the American Express travel site. It's usually not included, though it is available. Eidily was very helpful, and I'll definitely come back.

The location is fantastic, just 1 minute from the wharf, and the second-floor pool is nice for little kids, though it's shallow. Customer service was awful and seemed completely disinterested. The rooms look modern, but the hot water wasn't reliable, the bathroom door wouldn't close properly, and getting extra toilet paper was difficult. Don't bother with the breakfast. It often ran short of spoons, milk, and tea, and the staff seemed untrained, making service a total disaster. A bakery down the road has vanilla-filled croissants. Towels were hit and miss, and it seemed they hadn't ordered enough, so bring your own if you can. The hotel is owned by a Dr., whose photos with his daughter hang on most walls. His cosmetic business brochures are at reception, and a video about its offerings plays in the lobby.

The hotel was beautiful, but we had trouble getting towels and blankets. We kept asking for towels, and staff rehung ones we'd left on the floor even though they were very dirty. We asked for blankets for the night and never got any. There was a safe, but no key; we only got another safe on the 6th of our 7 days. After a downpour one day, the water turned brown. I got samonella poisoning. At the affiliated breakfast place, the only thing served was eggs with ham and cheese, and coffee was scarce, with refills hard to get.

Our room flooded overnight after water leaked through the ceiling and soaked our things. There was no hot water, so we couldn’t shower, and breakfast wasn’t provided either. We only stayed one night, but it turned into a nightmare and spoiled the following day too. The worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in.
