Elena Apartment 2

***I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE*** I've been coming to Cabarete for five years and have rented in several places, but Elena is the worst landlord I've dealt with. She was always watching us. When I arrived with personal belongings, she wouldn't let me bring them into the apartment. She accused me of taking her things and replacing them with mine, which she said were less attractive, or something along those lines. Elena requires full payment for the whole stay on arrival, which isn't standard here except perhaps at one other place I know. She also asks for a $200 USD deposit and, in my view, would happily keep it over things like a broken fan or air conditioner, a plate or glass, stained sheets, forgetting a light during a power outage, or problems with the fridge, taps, toilet, closet rod, or air conditioner control. She checked all of those things, counted the utensils, glasses, cups, plates, and rods, and accused me of using the kitchen towels to wipe myself because I'd hung them to dry in the bathroom. She even made me take out my garbage bag. She was very unpleasant and kept watching me. We couldn't use the washer and dryer whenever we wanted, only one day a week, because electricity costs too much. I couldn't stay a full month and left after three weeks. Even then, she threatened to charge me for electricity because I had forgotten to turn off a light once or twice during a power outage. I live a few doors down now. Five days later she came after me, accusing me of taking the cord for the water dispenser. It wasn't connected to the dispenser, and I hadn't noticed that when I showed her the apartment. Then she argued with me and my friends in the street. She's awful. It's impossible to talk to her because she's always right, and only she is. ***I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE***
