Hotel Alegria

The staff were on the ball, friendly, and helpful, and I felt safe the whole time. Some rooms even have a lovely ocean view, and you’re just seconds from the water. The only grocery store in town is a 30-second walk away, Scotiabank is two minutes on foot, and restaurants are easy to get to. This hotel was half of what made it the best vacation of my life. I’ll be back soon!

The front desk staff were a real bright spot. They’ve been there a long time, are local, and were cheerful, helpful, and understanding. I appreciated the owner’s quick response to my earlier post, so I’m revising it to make it less reactive. Still, Hotel Alegria fell short of what Expedia advertised. I paid extra for an ocean-view room, but the view was very limited and wasn’t shown in the promo. The balcony mosquito screens didn’t work properly, so mosquitoes got into our room at night and we had to buy spiral repellent candles locally. The overhead fan creaked loudly above level two, and the top bolt on our door couldn’t be used. It was also disappointing to learn afterward that the jacuzzi was out of service, especially since the marketing emphasizes the recent renovation. The hotel is close to the beach and has a cozy bohemian look, but the condition of our room didn’t match its Expedia profile or the price. We might return if management fixes those room issues, takes our feedback seriously, and offers some reparation for a partly uncomfortable stay.

We’ve stayed here three times now and will be back. It feels like a true DR experience, and it’s family friendly. The restaurant has lots of delicious choices at great prices, and the supermarket around the corner was handy during our full week. Our clean, comfortable room caught the afternoon breeze, and the beach was just steps away. The staff were helpful even with little things. Great value all around.

A sweet little hotel tucked away from the main street, with the supermarket, beaches, and places to eat all nearby. The building is older and the room felt a bit worn, but it was equipped with some cooking and eating utensils. The rooftop jacuzzi was lovely. The staff were accommodating, and we had a great stay.
