We had a great vacation and I’d definitely come back. The beach entrance let us walk for miles in either direction, and the pool had lots of nice spots to unwind. Our room was spacious and everything was in good shape. The staff were really friendly and easy to talk to, and the front desk was especially helpful. Thanks for making us feel welcome.

The pool area was lovely and most of the staff were very friendly, but the front desk clerk was an exception. We won’t be staying again. My nephew had booked and paid in full back in November, yet when my mother and I arrived for the trip he’d surprised us with, they asked us to pay extra because of the exchange rate difference. Our two-bedroom, two-bathroom room wasn’t clean: there were spit marks on the faucet and no warm water in the shower. We also had no water for two nights. There are two dogs on the property, and one poor pup was kept in a cage all day with little water and no food. After our week there, they charged us extra for tax as well.

The pool was amazing, but the beach didn’t impress me much. The room had acceptable space, though the cable was so bad there wasn’t even a signal for the national channels. There was nothing in the kitchen to light a fire, so I had to go to a “colmado” to buy matches. It was just okay for me. I expected better, and the place could be better.

The hosts made us feel like royalty, and I can’t wait to return. D’Franchesis Hostal is a cute, comfortable and peaceful little piece of heaven facing the Caribbean Sea on Juan Dolio Beach, Dominican Republic. I’d recommend it 100%!

The owners were really friendly, and the laundry was done quickly for a very fair price. The place is right by a small beach, while the main beach is only a three-minute walk away. Highly recommend.
