Hotel Al Mare was clean, reasonably priced, and treated us well, though it isn’t a luxury place. We stayed overnight to explore the Barahona area, and they welcomed our dog. The owner was very nice, and breakfast was good, with fresh fruit, eggs, and sausage. We were surprised by how relaxing it was. I definitely recommend it if you’re in the area. Give it a try, you’ll like it.

It felt like staying with family or friends. The hosts made their spot on the shore warm and welcoming without much fuss. The room was very clean without being overdone, and the bathroom got plenty of attention. Hot water and water pressure were both great. There’s secure parking and good access security, plus a cozy, pristine pool. No regrets about staying here.

La plaza is very close and a must see, and the Larimar mine is about 20 minutes away. Bahia las aguilas is a two-hour trip. At the hotel, we especially liked the pool right on the beach and the friendly, helpful owners. It’s very quiet, a good place to unwind for a few days, with beach bars and restaurants only 150 meters away. We’ll be back!

We’d come back for the location and breakfast. The hotel is right on the beach, and from our room we could slide open the door and step out to watch the sunrise. A homemade, tasty typical breakfast was included. The hotel itself was just okay, though. We’d booked a deluxe room, but it had plumbing problems. The owner offered another room, but it had no view. Since we were only staying one night, we kept the room with the water drip.
