The Amstar staff are in the lobby all day, every day, to help book adventures around the country. They transport you there and back, and the experiences were so cool. My wife and I felt very safe with them. We had an amazing stay, with a beautiful beach, incredibly friendly and helpful staff, and our room cleaned daily. I’ll be saving up to come back.

The bars all had great selections and great service, and we met lots of people from Canada and some from the USA. Restaurants and buffets were clean, with plenty of good options. Our room was clean, had refreshments in the fridge, and was great overall. The pool felt a little cool at first but was nice once you got in. There were lots of chairs by the pool and beach if you got up early. I’d rate the place 4.5.

Danny at the Main Bars was elite, and Mario by the pool made the frozen drinks hit all the right notes. The entertainment crew was lively, energetic, and engaging without making anyone feel pressured. The games were fun and interactive, and Francis El bubaloo, Maria, Jose, and the whole team brought great energy from early morning through the evening. There’s plenty of fun off the grounds too, with excursions not too far away.

Our spacious room was comfortable, though a little tired in places, and the staff were attentive, friendly, and always ready to help. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. We had a fantastic stay and would happily return. The resort is remote, which adds to its charm. It has a gorgeous private beach and a huge pool with a swim-up bar that became a favourite. The entertainment team worked hard to keep guests involved through the day. There are lots of activities: kayaks, SUPs, tennis courts, and bikes are free to use, and there’s also an on-site golf course, casino, and nightclub. Morning yoga on the pier was a highlight, a peaceful place for a gentle stretch before breakfast. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice and the chef making the best omelettes. Lunch and dinner were very good too, with the beach restaurant and evening à la carte options, though those need to be booked ahead. The Bahai Principe Hotel in La Romana itself is beautiful, with immaculate grounds and stunning, well-kept gardens.
