Avoid this place. I had booked and paid for one night through Booking, but when I arrived, reception told me there was no room for me. The receptionist couldn’t process a refund through Booking and called the manager, who was unpleasant and unhelpful at first. I spent an hour and a half arguing at reception. The manager made several calls but couldn’t find a solution, then refunded only 80% of what I’d paid. I never received the rest from Booking. She seemed to speak rudely about me to the receptionist in Spanish, though I didn’t understand everything because I don’t speak Spanish very well. The hotel is on a very busy street that seemed dangerous to me, so I wouldn’t recommend it to solo travelers. If you drive, finding somewhere to park during the day may be difficult.

The rooms are small and smell moldy or damp, parking is awful, and the shower barely has any pressure. Breakfast was free, but the ham and cheese sandwich and my wife’s fried eggs with mangú, mashed banana, were nothing special. The juice tasted like dirty mop water. Any American thinking of coming here, take it from an Army vet: stay away.

It’s affordable, around $45 USD a day, and workable if you only need somewhere to sleep after the beach. Playa Dominicus is about 25 minutes away, and you can get a day pass at the resorts there. The hotel is right by the road, so traffic noise is constant. Parking is free but very tight, though an attendant can help guide you. Breakfast when we were there was mangú with scrambled eggs or a ham and cheese sandwich, plus tamarind juice. The rooms and bathrooms are cramped, and only about half the air conditioning worked in our room. There are stairs, so it doesn’t seem suitable if you can’t manage them. The staff were friendly, but after our online reservation we still waited about 15 minutes for the rooms to be ready. Spanish only, but that’s why you’re here.

Ask for an upstairs room. The breakfast was good, and both the coffee and fruit juices were excellent. They’ll take good care of you.
