The bedsheets were the one thing I really disliked: they felt scratchy and kept me hot. Getting there was rough too. It’s nearly two hours from the airport, and arriving at night meant a dark, bumpy drive with nothing to see. I wouldn’t arrive after about 5pm again. Once there, we had a great time. The staff were so kind and helpful, almost to the point of being too helpful, and everything in the rooms was clean. The food was always decent or better, except the a la carte sushi, which was really bad. The beach is lovely, though small enough to feel busy with just the hotel guests. Walking left takes you to another beach outside the resort, which was quiet, and I loved it.

The staff made the biggest impression on our family of four adults and two infants. They welcomed us with cool towels and delicious lemonade after our long drive from the airport, over an hour, then helped with our luggage and taxi when we left. There were smiles and kindness throughout. The grounds are lush, the beach is gorgeous, and the rooms were nice, with good cribs for the babies. The chef put together a varied buffet, with a good mix of hot and cold food, and we always found something to rave about. There were good sandwiches and sweets available almost all the time, and the beach bar and restaurant served great fried chicken and pizza. We had a fantastic visit and would definitely return and recommend it. The only downside was the lack of shade.

Bingo with Luisa and Cassandra was always a fun part of the stay. We also loved starting the day at the beach café, where Judeisy and Luiza Maria made delicious iced coffees and greeted us with a smile and kind words. It was our first visit to the DR, and I’d definitely recommend Samana and the Wyndham Alltra Resort. The buffet hostesses and servers were lovely and accommodating, and the staff in general were friendly.

It’s such a calm, quiet resort, and the beach was unlike anywhere we’ve been, beautiful and relaxing. The food had plenty of variety and was cooked really well. Reynaldo kindly helped us book the great teppanyaki experience. Everything was top notch, from the rooms and service to the food and beach. It made for a perfect holiday. I’d give the place a 10/10 if I could.

The resort is easy to get around, with flat paths that work well for older guests and wheelchair users. There’s plenty of food and drink, with lots of choices, and the beach is top notch. The people were friendly and helpful throughout. My favorite people were Jose at KAA bar and Reynaldo, if I’ve got his name right, who helped me book the Japanese restaurant. I’ve just returned home after buying the package through Sunwing/westjet. Would recommend.
