The very sweet donkeys, Flora and Goliad, greeted me with friendly snorts, which was an added plus. Fata Morgana sits on a beautiful, peaceful property, and the owner is friendly and knows the area well. She’s also a certified tour guide for the Dominican Republic and speaks several languages, so not speaking Spanish isn’t a problem. She can arrange tours, sightseeing, and rentals to help make your stay comfortable. If you’re after a slice of paradise, this is the place.

I first fell in love with Fata Morgana in 2010 and have always loved coming back. It’s a simple, clean place with a gorgeous garden, and Edit is very kind and helpful. Since she’s a guide and a pro in the tourist sector, I always ask her for advice. I love her well-behaved donkeys and dogs, too. It’s quiet, about 10-15 minutes by car from the beach, and has good internet, hot water, and a shared kitchen. The price is very affordable. I highly recommend it.

Our two-night stay was wonderful. We arrived late on the first night, but Edit left dinner in town with her family to welcome us and let us in. She then brought us to dinner with her family and friends, who were wonderful and fun to spend time with. We enjoyed learning about their interesting life in the Dominican. The two donkeys are awesome, wandering around the property and keeping the grass short. The facilities are basic but clean and have what you need, including an extra fan when we needed one. It’s a step up from a hostel, though definitely not a resort. We’d definitely come back.

A beautiful little hidden paradise. The rooms are simple but just right. I especially loved the open windows that let in the sounds of nature. The garden is lovely, with cats, dogs, and donkeys.
