Hotel Marbella Montecristi

Nothing fancy, but it’s fine for enjoying the city.

The location is great and the prices are good, but breakfast isn’t offered. The hotel needs a lot of work, from the wall paint to how the staff present themselves. There didn’t seem to be anyone around at night to keep guests in check. A group played loud music by the pool until 3 a.m., then came into the hotel drunk and shouting. It was a horrible experience. The rooms are basic, even the “premium” ones, and only almost clean. My fridge was old and dirty, with a dead cockroach inside. Even with all that, I’d give the place another chance if I had no other options.

The ocean view was nice, and the room was clean. Common areas were more or less clean too. But the area didn’t feel very safe, and the facilities had little or no security. There was no WiFi in the room, and the street was very noisy at night. The rooms aren’t insulated, so street sounds came through as if the bed were out on the street, along with all the hallway noise. The door was hard to lock and noisy to open or close. The A/C couldn’t be adjusted and was very dirty. The bathroom sink, toilet seat, and shower floor were cracked, and there were holes in the wall. Common areas were poorly maintained, the restaurant was low quality, and staff would clean the room only if asked. The room phone could only call reception, not even for payment. There was a small TV and no fridge. If you can, avoid a really bad night and don’t stay here.

A sea-view room costs $50 dollars. It’s right on the water, next to the beach, with a small pool and a restaurant. There are plenty of other restaurants nearby too, so it’s nice for a weekend getaway. The hotel is economical, breakfast is included, and rooms have hot water and cable TV. There’s no WiFi in the rooms. Breakfast comes with black coffee only, no coffee with milk. For a cappuccino, you have to buy one in the lobby.
