Blue JackTar

Blue JackTar was the most inviting place we saw in Playa Dorada. Some of the other hotels are more modern, but feel like concrete jungles, and Gran Ventana is like a cruise ship on the beach. This whole Playa Dorada complex has several guarded, secure properties along the beach, with paths and sidewalks connecting them, so it’s easy to walk around. Blue JackTar has lots of green space, palm trees, and tropical fauna. There are three lovely covered, open air places to eat, sip coffee, or play cards. The pool was first rate, inviting, and never crowded. There were plenty of groundskeepers and maintenance staff constantly cleaning and polishing everything. The beach was fairly clean, like a TV commercial on five out of seven days, though a heavy rainstorm washed up lots of plastic bottles and rubbish. Breakfast is free, generous, and varied enough to keep you full for half the day. One thing prospective guests in 2026 should know is that a major construction project is happening on site, as shown in the attached photos. It looked jarring on the first day, then we stopped caring. The noise was noticeable sometimes, but manageable and not loud enough to interrupt most activities. Some rooms may feel a little dated. Ours was, but it was very clean. I’d certainly stay here again.

I only experienced the conference center for a conference. The staff were great, and the food throughout our meetings hit the spot, especially the excellent lunch. Judging by the service there, I think it’s safe to assume the hotel service is top-notch too.

The restaurant served good food at reasonable prices, and my stay in one of the towers was amazing. This is one of my favorite beaches in D.R., with soft sand, nice waves, and a clean, safe feel. I’m looking forward to coming back.

Blue Jack Tar felt like a home away from home, and the updated rooms made for a really relaxing stay. They’re beautifully designed, with modern comfort and a touch of elegance. I felt valued from the warm check-in welcome through the attentive service during my stay. Every staff member seemed to go above and beyond. A memorable, comfortable getaway, highly recommended.
