Apartments Bavaro Green - Punta Cana

SCAMMMMMM ALERT!!! Unit 312. My boyfriend paid a lot for a one-month stay, but they couldn’t even provide cleaning service. They gave us just one card for the apartment, and that same card was needed for the lights. The living room aircon never worked, the bed was broken, and the sheets were too small. The cabannas by the pool were filthy. The receptionist seemed bored with her job, as if her choice to do it were the customer’s problem. She was not polite when we arrived, and my boyfriend thought she seemed grumpy. The place doesn’t look like the pictures at all. Total scam, and absolutely awful service!

After our long flight, this turned into a nightmare. My aunt and I had to leave and find somewhere else to stay, and the owner refused to refund us. They told booking.com we left because there were no beaches nearby, which wasn’t true. We have videos showing the problems, but Booking wouldn’t accept them and only took photos. The aircon photos showed the units on, but they wouldn’t cool the rooms and blew hot air. There were roaches everywhere. When we first arrived at Bavaro Green, we were received very badly. The woman stayed on her phone through check-in. A young man showed us our separate apartments, mine was 311 and my aunt’s was 313. Room 311 was dated, the living room AC was broken, and the window lock was insecure. It fell off when we checked the window security. My aunt’s room was a little better, but the bathroom light didn’t work. She slipped getting out of the shower and fell because she couldn’t see the shower pass in the dark. All this happened within 12 hours. After I pointed out the unsafe window in 311, the woman in the office reluctantly moved me to a two-room apartment on the third floor. Neither bedroom’s AC worked. I had to leave my room and sleep on my aunt’s floor without AC, and the heat was unbearable. When the security guard tried to explain the problems, the woman quickly silenced him. This was not an acceptable start to a trip that was supposed to be our first day exploring the beautiful country. We wanted the full refund so we could immediately find another apartment, but got none. Avoid these apartments.

We arrived to find a security staff member demanding an extra $40 in cash before giving us the room key. That fee hadn’t appeared in the listing or booking details. When we refused to pay it, he wouldn’t let us into the room. We asked to speak with the manager, but he said he was the only one available and wouldn’t help further. We felt unsafe and had no other option, so we left and booked another hotel nearby. Scam alert, don’t go there!

For $200 U.S. for nine days, this was a little better than some of the horrible Motel 6s I’ve stayed at in the U.S., though not by much. It was clean enough for me, and there are restaurants, bars, and an Ole supermarket within walking distance. Prices around there were higher than I expected. I didn’t use the pool. My vacation was decent, but I won’t return. Next time I’ll pay for a resort. The photos are outdated, and the shower water was scalding, so I took cold showers instead. There was no in-between. I saw one roach come out of the bedroom air conditioner. Towels came every two days and fresh sheets on day four. The doorbell didn’t work, so staff opened the door all the way and knocked while I was sleeping each time. The night security guard was always asleep. The refrigerator didn’t work, though the freezer did, so food I bought at the nearby supermarket went bad and had to be thrown away. The TV and ceiling fan in the living room didn’t work. Four of the stove’s five burners worked. The driver offered a $30 round-trip airport ride and was cool. Going to the beach would have cost $40-$50 round trip, so I didn’t go. I nearly slipped in the shower and bought a mat and bath mat from Ole. Remember, shower water was either scalding or cold, and the fridge didn’t work. To keep the power on, you have to leave the card key in a slot by the door, and you need it to leave and to get back in.
