Dreams Cap Cana Resort & Spa

Fernanda in the concierge office did her best to help us and genuinely seemed to care about advocating for a fix. The rest of our stay fell far short of what we expected from a 5 star resort. Our room and the property had repeated cleanliness and maintenance problems, and the food and drinks were below average. Even basic classic cocktails were poorly made or seemed unfamiliar to the staff, which surprised us at an all-inclusive of this level. We raised our concerns with resort leadership while we were there. Afterward, staff seemed to know we had complained and came across as disengaged and annoyed. We were told more than once that the property had recently been acquired, but that doesn’t excuse the condition or service. Nearby resorts in the same or lower price range offer a much better all-inclusive stay, so I can’t recommend this one.

Candela was easily the best dinner, a 5/5. Dinner staff were much more attentive than the bar and buffet teams, where I felt I had to stare someone down to get what I needed. The beach is prettier than many reviews suggest, with nice sand, beautiful trees, and lovely water color. The ocean was much too cold to swim, though there are spots with fewer rocks if you want to get in. The pool was freezing too, even though you could technically use it. The weather was wonderful, and the location is beautiful. There weren’t many families, and I’d guess about 60% of the guests were over 50.

The staff were really helpful and nice, and the restaurants were great. The steakhouse served excellent food, the buffet had a great selection, and the cafe that stays open all night was handy. There were good activities for kids and evening events, too. After a terrible stay at Ocean Blue Sand, we had low expectations for Punta Cana, but Dreams was lovely. The hotel has been refurbished recently, feels quiet, and has a nice atmosphere. It was clean everywhere, and our room in the main large building was very good and quiet. The other guests seemed much more considerate than at Ocean Blue. We had a great stay from beginning to end and would recommend it for families.

We only stayed three days for a wedding in Cap Cana, but the resort made a strong impression. George at the front desk was warm, professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. He set a lovely tone, and the rest of the team were just as thoughtful and sincere. The food was fresh, flavorful, and consistently better than we expected. It didn’t feel like typical resort food. Service was prompt and polished, always with a smile. The grounds were pristine, and the pools were beautifully designed, clean, and never felt crowded, with room to relax or have fun. It was our first visit to Dreams Cap Cana, and we’d absolutely return. Everything felt seamless and memorable. Wow, wow, wow. Highly recommend.
