The restaurant was spotless and inviting, the outdoor spaces were tidy, and the pool area was nice. Restaurants across the street also had good food and a pleasant atmosphere, and having Scotiabank nearby was convenient. Still, the stay didn't feel worth the price. There aren't other competing hotels close by, and the area could use a convenience store. The mall was disappointing, with limited size and selection. I was there for four nights. The airport shuttle came quickly, though its pickup point after customs wasn't clearly marked. My room wasn't ready at 10:30am, so I had breakfast across the street, and it was ready at noon. The room itself worked mechanically. There was a power surge one day, but the backup generators came on. There was no fridge in the room, though they brought one after I asked. I'd have rated the hotel a star higher if a fridge and microwave were standard. The bed wasn't comfortable, but extra blankets and foam pillows helped me sleep better. I only had one washcloth, and there was no shower ledge for personal items like face wash. The gym was also on the small side. There's a supermarket about a 10 minute walk away, or you can use the on-demand shuttle. I didn't take the shuttle to the beach club restaurant.

The room was in poor shape, with broken shelves and other worn or damaged furniture. It looked neglected, which was a letdown after seeing how nice the hotel appeared in its online photos. The actual condition didn't match that impression, and I wouldn't recommend staying here. I got there around 5:00 PM, but my room still wasn't ready. The lobby is tiny, and just one employee was checking people in, so everything moved slowly. They also had to scan my passport using an outdated system. A single scan took about three minutes, adding more delay to an already inconvenient check-in.

The breakfast was a highlight, with a nice range of fresh fruit, bread, eggs, and other basics. The restaurant team were friendly and helpful. My room was quiet, clean, nicely decorated, and roomy, with the essentials, though I missed having a mini fridge. Four Points by Sheraton Punta Cana is handy for a short stay near the airport, just a few minutes away, and the complimentary ride in both directions made travel easy. Check-in itself was smooth. I did feel a bit let down that reception didn't warmly welcome me or recognize my Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite status. A more personal greeting would have improved the experience.

The restaurants across the street were the best part, lots of good options. The front desk team were great too. The first night, the guy at the bar was kind of a jerk, but then he ignored us for the rest of the trip, which was a bonus. Otherwise, a pretty good place.

The airport-side location is convenient, and the rooms were clean with friendly service. But the beds were incredibly hard. I didn't sleep at all during my overnight visit, it was like lying on a slab of cement. My partner managed to sleep, but woke up sore. I don't think I'll come back.
